Mike McGarr is an engineering leader who resides in the heart of Silicon Valley. Mike currently leads Slack’s Frontend Infrastructure team, focused on building a great JavaScript client. Prior to Slack, Mike lead Netflix’s Developer Productivity team, who was focused on building tools and services to make engineers at Netflix productive. Mike is also one of the founders and co-organizers of the Productivity Engineering Silicon Valley meetup. Mike also had a brief stint as a co-host on the popular podcast, the Ship Show Podcast. Prior to moving to the valley, Mike was hard at work in Washington D.C. building software solutions for the federal government. In this talk, Mike McGarr (Slack Engineering) will address this question by exploring the essence of organizational culture and how it impacts our work. Mike will also explore the microcultures that can exist within an organization that provide layers of influence into our lives and job satisfaction.
